Dubai boating has a rhythm: the water is glorious from October to May, brutal in high summer. That makes late summer the natural maintenance window, and every yard and lift slot in the emirate books accordingly. Owners who plan materials before the haul out date keep their slot short; owners who discover mid job that the antifouling is out of stock do not.
The standard haul out scope
A typical annual lift covers pressure wash, hull inspection, antifouling renewal, anode replacement, running gear check and any gelcoat or topside touch ups. Add a moisture check on GRP hulls every few years, and a hard look at any blistering, covered in our osmosis guide earlier this month.
Book in this order
Lift slot first, then materials, then labour. Yard slots around Dubai tighten from September onward as the season approach concentrates demand. Materials deserve a week of lead even when stocked locally, because colour and grade both matter and substitutions mid job cause compatibility questions.
The materials list that covers a standard lift
Antifouling for the wetted area at two coats plus stripe coat, tie coat or sealer if the old coating is unknown, primer for bare spots, masking and thinners, anodes to pattern, and stripper or abrasive if this is the year the build up comes off. A 12 metre boat commonly consumes 8 to 12 litres of antifouling for the full scheme; send us the dimensions and we calculate the wetted area properly.
Summer work has one advantage
Paint cures fast and yards run shaded shifts. Early starts, dew point awareness and correct thinners keep quality up even in July.
