Coating packages fail on logistics and paperwork far more often than on product performance. This checklist covers the points that cause the most delay on UAE projects.

Before ordering

Confirm the full system, not just the topcoat: primer, intermediate and finish must be a compatible set, ideally from one manufacturer, with data sheets that reference each other. Verify the specified dry film thickness per coat and total, and convert the area into litres using volume solids and realistic loss factors, following our coverage calculation guide.

Check colour availability and lead time for tinted products separately from stock shades. Confirm thinner type for the ambient conditions expected during application, not the conditions at ordering time, since a project running from spring into summer needs different grades.

Documentation to obtain with the order

Technical data sheets for every product in the system. Safety data sheets for site HSE files and DG transport. Batch certificates where the specification requires them. For fire protection, the certification package and loading tables for Civil Defence submission, as covered in our fire rating guide.

Logistics checks

Confirm pack sizes against kit ratios, because ordering base and hardener in mismatched quantities is a classic error that leaves unusable material. Confirm shelf life against your programme, and storage conditions available on site: material stored in a hot container degrades regardless of what the label says.

Plan delivery in tranches matched to application progress rather than taking everything at once, which reduces both site storage pressure and shelf life exposure.

Before application starts

Confirm inspection hold points and the evidence each requires, per our hold points article. Verify gauge calibration certificates are current. Agree the environmental monitoring routine and who records it. Confirm the applicator has the correct spray equipment and tip sizes for the specified products, since high build epoxies need appropriate pumps.

Keep a project file from day one

Data sheets, batch records, preparation results, environmental logs and thickness measurements, organised by area. Assembling this at handover is painful; maintaining it as you go is routine.

MENA Industrial Supplies supplies complete coating systems with documentation and can schedule tranche deliveries to match project programmes across the UAE.
